My heart sings with the psalmist, "O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. . . . He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder." When I turned to Christian Science for physical healing, I had long ceased to find the theological concept of God at all reasonable, as the thought of a God who would cruelly punish His children was revolting to me, and I could not pray to such a one in my great need. I was at that time pitifully in need of the physical healing, and I quickly received it through Christian Science, for which I am deeply grateful; but for the practical, demonstrable, and soul-satisfying understanding of God as good, and Allin-all, I can never cease to be thankful,—thankful to our good God, and grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her loving faithfulness in giving her great discovery of Christian Science to the world.
The physicians had named my illness kidney trouble and hemorrhoids, and I had besides a great fear of paralysis. I had tried every remedy of which I knew for over three years, but had steadily grown worse. At the end of one week of Christian Science treatment, however, I had strength to go about my daily duties, was able to lay off the dark glasses I had been wearing, and more than all, I had an abiding confidence that there was complete healing for me in Christian Science, for I had found the God who forgiveth all our iniquities and healeth all our diseases. In the eight years since that time, Truth as revealed in Christian Science has met my every need, physically, mentally, and financially. I rejoice in my own good health and happiness, and in knowing that there is health and happiness for all who truly seek it.
Mrs. Eleanor L. Austin, Chicago, III.
