I wish to make public acknowledgment of the great...

I wish to make public acknowledgment of the great benefits I have received through Christian Science. In January, 1911, I was quite ill and suffered a great deal. I knew a little about Christian Science through others, and I asked my daughter with whom I was living if she would telephone for a Christian Science practitioner, who might be able to relieve me from the suffering, as I could not expect to live but a few days longer (I was eighty-three years old and only hoped for relief). My daughter did as I wished, and the practitioner came just before noon. As I told him of my condition and age, he only smiled, and said that time was nothing, but eternity is all. He added, "God knows no age, and you can be healed. Jesus said, 'With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.' " He talked for a few minutes about the allness and the goodness of God, and the unreality and nothingness of evil, such as sin, sickness, suffering, and death, and gave me a silent treatment, then said that I would not have to remain in bed long. I was up that very evening, and was practically well.

When he came back the next day, I was up and about. I then told him of a very annoying and discordant condition which I had had for fifty-five years; but he only said it was no part of man's true being and that I need not have it. When he came the next day, the discordant condition had all disappeared, and when I mentioned a goiter on my throat, he said that I should not think of it, look at it, or feel for it, and I really did forget it for several days; then when I came to think of it, it was all gone.

I walk ten blocks to the Christian Science church and back with no inconvenience. While visiting in Kansas since my healing, I walked three miles one day. I give all the praise to God for my healing, and cannot express my gratitude to dear Mrs. Eddy for her goodness in bringing Christian Science to the world.
