When Christian Science first came into my home, I was...
When Christian Science first came into my home, I was held in the belief of being a delicate child, always under a physician's care, taking various kinds of medicine, unable to attend school during the severe winter months, and easily subject to the contagious diseases which material law assigns to childhood. As my mother became acquainted with the higher law of Spirit, God, she overcame her fears about me and I soon gained a normal state of health and could engage in the activities of other children. It is now nineteen years since I have required any material remedy or medical treatment. During this period the power of Christian Science as the truth to prevail over sickness and sorrow, has been proven to me times innumerable. The happiness, the peace of mind, the freedom from fear and worry which faithful study of this Science brings, would make it invaluable aside from its well-known healing power.
At the birth of each of my two children, every law laid down by materia medica was broken; the events were entirely without pain or suffering, and in a few days I was taking care of my babies besides attending to regular household duties. As I see the little ones growing up, I am deeply thankful for the promise that divine Love always cares for them, and I have no cause for fear. But even greater than any of the blessings which come to my own family, do I count the ability to assist in the relief of suffering humanity, which is given me through the understanding of the Master's teaching as explained in the priceless writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Her wisdom, also, in giving to us the periodicals for constant help and reminder, cannot be too deeply appreciated, when we consider their broad fields of usefulness.—Mrs. Lena M. Farley, Albion, Mich.
