With commendable zeal and enterprise the Christian Scientists...

Fort Smith (Ark.) X-Ray Bulletin

With commendable zeal and enterprise the Christian Scientists of Fort Smith maintained a room on the fair-grounds in October, where all callers were welcome to free seats, free telephone service, and free literature. The Christian Science Monitor, one of the greatest, cleanest, and best daily newspapers published in all the world, together with several other publications, was given free to all who wished to read it. These people are not blatant proselyters, and they offered nothing for sale. They solicit no contributions from those who are not Christian Scientists, and they quarrel with no one on account of religious differences. They believe in the teachings of Mrs. Eddy even as the inspired revealer of the teaching of the Christ; even as Christ believed in the words of the inspired prophets of the older Jewish Scriptures. Whatever may be the differences of opinion on the subject of religion, the fact remains that this church is a silent but potent factor in shaping the lives and destinies of more than a million self-sustaining and respectable, honorable and industrious citizens in America,—a citizenship that does not contribute inmates either to dens of vice or to almshouses. As such, we respect them and wish them long life and prosperity.
