I am indeed grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I am indeed grateful for what Christian Science has done for my family. In April, 1912, my wife was taken to the hospital while suffering from what the physicians said was an acute attack of appendicitis and peritonitis. Her condition was such that upon examination they decided it would be impossible to operate immediately, After a couple of days the surgeon who was called on the case said they would make the attempt, but on account of her condition they would be forced to do so under a local anesthetic. They made an incision, and near the appendix found a large growth, which seemed to be of a malignant nature, also symptoms of a disease of the kidneys; in fact, the condition was so serious that they could go no farther. My wife remained in a critical condition for a week, and they held out no hope for her recovery, as the obstruction was such that they could get no bowel movement.
Through a friend I was then induced to try Christian Science, all else having failed. That night my wife passed into a state of coma, and the physician said he felt sure she would never regain consciousness, in fact doubted if she would live until morning. I went home very much distressed, and a friend who was there shared my sorrow; but late that evening the Christian Science practitioner was called up and treatment was given until half past one the next morning, when the obstruction of the bowels yielded, and the next day my wife was very much improved. In a short time she was taken home, but the growth in her side was still there, and the physicians said she would have to return to the hospital as soon as she had gained a little strength.
We called the practitioner to the house and soon had the satisfaction of seeing the growth pass away. The kidney disease yielded to the power of Truth, and not a trace of it could be found, even under a microscopical analysis. This healing took about six or seven weeks, but after that my wife was quite herself again, and as active as ever. Christian Science not only healed her at this time, but also cured her of a bowel disorder of long standing, and did the same for our baby one year old.
