Christian Science has brought so many blessings into my...
Christian Science has brought so many blessings into my life that I feel I must express my gratitude for this great truth, as far as it is possible to do so in words. I hope my testimony may bring help to others who are in trouble, as the reading of testimonies has so often helped me, when facing a difficult problem.
I came to Berlin for the purpose of studying the violin, and after the first year I began to have trouble with one of my arms, and before long the other also gave out. For three years I tried every sort of material means that I thougth might help me. I would gain relief for a time and then the trouble would return as serious as ever. The despair and discouragement I went through are impossible to describe. After I had exhausted all material means, the thought came into my mind that Christian Science might help me. I know very little about the subject, but was in no way prejudiced against it. I applied to a friend who was a Scientist for information, and she kindly lent me the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. After reading it for a few days the trouble in my arms entirely disappeared. This was over two years ago, and I have worked steadily at my instrument without any further interruption.
In the autumn of 1910 I had a return of a very serious and distressing form of goiter, which several physicians had previously told me was quite incurable, saying that only by taking extreme care could I prevent its getting complete hold of me. The attack I mention was in an aggravated form. Slighter returns of the disease that I had had before coming into Christian Science had necessitated weeks of absolute quiet and the giving up of my work. As my fear was very great, I could not do anything for myself, so I applied to a Christian Science practitioner for help. At the end of a week's treatment, and without any relaxing of my work, every sign of the disease had gone, and in its place I experienced that wonderful spiritual uplift and strength which this healing brings with it. These are only two of the many belssings which the study of Christian Science has brought me. Since I began I have had much to meet, and can only say that Christian Science does indeed show one the true way of solving all problems. During a great sorrow it helped me as nothing else could have done.
