The deepest gratitude fills my heart for Christian Science...
The deepest gratitude fills my heart for Christian Science and the comfort and help it has brought to those near and dear to me. My mother and oldest sister were healed of serious nervous trouble. That brought my first awakening to the workings of Truth, and a great desire to know more about it. Over a year ago I was called home to be with my father, who was very ill. Through the long waiting hours I came to feel more and more a comforting sense of the supporting arms of divine Love. Slowly my father's healing came, and with it a realization to us all of how wonderfully and beautifully Love sustains us through every trial.
When a child, I loved the Bible stories, but always felt such a longing to have lived in the days of "miracles." Christian Science has, however, shown me that the Christ-healing is as much for us today as it was for the disciples long ago, and Jesus' command, "Fellow thou me," is a call to each individual to take up the cross and daily "pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus" (Science and Health, p. 497).
I am grateful that Christian Science has aroused me to the call, and that it furnishes a rule for the solution of every problem if we only seek for it diligently. Mrs. Eddy's spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures has made the Bible doubly dear to me, and her untiring efforts to prove the practicability of Christ's teachings is a living example to us all that we too should be about our Father's business. How few of us are willing to learn humility by cheerfully performing the homely tasks which come to us each day; and how often we complain when we see others called to higher duties, not seeming to realize that they must have already proven their worthiness. Christian Science is teaching me the necessity of humility and patience, and I earnestly desire that I may be so faithful over my few duties that when the call comes to advance I shall be worthy to be made ruler over the more difficult ones.
