I was sick with stomach trouble for a number of years,...
I was sick with stomach trouble for a number of years, and several doctors here told me that all that would save my life was an operation. I went to a hospital in the city, where I was on the operating-table for nearly four hours. For a short time I felt somewhat improved, but soon the old trouble returned. I consulted the same doctors, and they told me I had a malignant growth in the stomach and that there was no help for me. The pain was so bad I felt obliged to take an opiate so that I could keep at work. I was getting worse all the time, so I thought I would try other doctors. I went to Omaha and was told by three of the best doctors there the same thing that I had been told in Lincoln, so I came back home to die. When my little boy asked me to try Christian Science at first I refused, but I went to a practitioner and he told me to come to his office the next day. I was too sick to go there, however, so called him over the telephone. He said he had taken my case up and that I should come to his office the next day.
Feeling somewhat better the next day, I went to his office and talked with him. He gave me the text-book to read, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and as soon as I commenced to study the book I saw things in a different light. In three days' time I was at work, and have not missed a day's work or lost a night's sleep since. It has been over a year since I commenced the study of Christian Science, and I can now say that I never felt better in my life. The old troubles are all gone and I am happy to know that I am healed both in mind and body. Truth has lifted me above all the little cares of this world, for I can see life in its true light now.—B. N. Adams, Lincoln, Neb.
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I came to Christian Science for help in a case of rheumatism. I had tried everything that the best physicians could give me, and still I had pain and could hardly walk. I have not been entirely healed of this disease, but I can do my work comfortably, and many other ills have dropped from me, including stomach and bowel trouble, loss of hearing, sleeplessness, drawing up of toes, etc. My eyes have been much benefited and fear has to great extent been overcome. I was also healed of acute lung trouble in one treatment. Best of all is the cleansing of my thought. I know that as I am obedient to God's law and heed our beloved Leader's counsel to "stand porter at the door of thought" (Science and Health, p. 392), I shall be healed of every discord
