I intended to send this testimony in long ago, but I was waiting for a physical ailment to be destroyed, as I knew it would be, and it is. To commence at the beginning, a man looking for board in a neighborhood near his business came to my house, which was large. I learned that his wife was a Christian Scientist, but I knew nothing about Science then, though my brother, who is a druggist, said some woman had gotten that religion up. In a few weeks I commenced to have some trouble with varicose veins, and I mentioned it to the lady, thinking I would not be able to have them stay, although I liked them. She then offered to treat me in Science, and I consented. She treated me perhaps about two weeks, when I felt the limb getting better, but I did not talk with her. I did not want to know about Christian Science, as I was prejudiced, for I belonged to a church of high rituals and believed it was the only real church; but one day I picked up the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and commenced at the Preface. Some of it I did not understand, but what I did was very convincing to me, and when I got well into the book I commenced to be agitated. I put the book down, and felt sorry I had commenced it. I knew that if I wanted to live right I would have to live up to what this book teaches, and that meant a good deal for me at that time. I again took up the book and commenced to read. It took me several days and evenings to finish it, but enough was revealed to me at the first reading to prove the truth of it. I got the healing, though I did not come to Christian Science for that, but for the spiritual truths it contains. I do not think that any one who reads our Leader's books without prejudice could help being impressed. The teaching of this book is enough to make one wonder and wake up, and glorify God in spirit.

I have had many tests. I have had opposition in many ways, but I never took a backward step. I could fill the testimony part of the Sentinel with the good that Christian Science has done for me. I can help myself to some extent, and have had good results. Over a year ago I had a stroke of paralysis. I did not know what was the matter with me, as I could not get up out of the chair, and my hand looked and felt queer, and when I commenced to declare the truth I discovered that my tongue also was affected. I then tried to work more scientifically, and in about a half hour I was able to get up and walk about the room. I felt the effects the remainder of the day, but by the next morning it was all destroyed through my realization of the allness of God and the nothingness of evil. At another time, I seemed one morning to be losing my memory. A friend who was with me began to get frightened and went at once for a Christian Science practitioner, who came as quickly as possible, and when she had given me a treatment, I was well. More recently I have been healed of an ulcer on my limb, classed by materia medica as incurable. I never got depressed or doubted the allness of God or the power of divine Love to cure and destroy every ill. This last case would be called a slow healing.

I am sending this testimony to encourage the dear ones who are entering into the truth of being. I never waver or doubt that God will give us every good thing. I do not know how to express enough love to our dear Leader for showing me how to know God and to love aright, but I can live my best understanding of good.
