I feel it incumbent, if from no other standpoint than that of gratitude, to add my testimony of healing to the already long list. I contracted a severe cold in July, 1910, and when the acute stage had passed off, I found that my right eye, which had been badly affected since the commencement of the malady, had become worse, the upper eyelid being particularly involved. My friends, in fact all with whom I came in contact, made mention of it, the majority of them advising me not to let it continue. I tried to help myself in Christian Science, but the evidence before the material senses seemed very strong, and fear crept in. A medical diagnosis of the condition emphasized that state, but I felt that if I conquered fear through the proper understanding, the eye would be healed. In the mean time the sight was showing signs of impairment, and the spread of the inflammation was very great, the discoloration extending all around the cheekbone. I then went to a Christian Science practitioner, and in a short time the intense itching was relieved, although it took some time for the entire dissipation of the trouble. There has been no recurrence, and in over four months I had no results but good ones, though nearly every one whom I knew, except Scientists, predicted very gloomy things for me.
My unbounded thankfulness for this healing may be imagined, but if I could tell in words the greater healing of regeneration which talks with my practitioner helped to develop within me, I am sure every one who might read this would be convinced and turn to divine Truth at all times and for all things. What a debt we owe to Mrs. Eddy for putting this wonderful teaching in intelligible and practical form, and what immeasurable comfort do we establish as our own here and now, "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding," by putting into daily practise the great verities which are to be found in her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
