One day in the fall of 1909, while I was standing on a step-ladder it slipped from under me, and I fell, striking my head on the cement floor. I was picked up unconscious, and a doctor sent for. He said the injury to the spine and the brain was very serious. I had convulsions and was unconscious for about twenty hours; then I was unconscious at times for four days, and seemed to be growing worse. The doctors held a consultation and said they could not do anything for me, that my heart and kidneys were bad and there was nothing to build on.

Then my sister, who had heard a little about Christian Science, thought perhaps that would help me, and sent for a practitioner. I had not been able to retain any food for those four days, but before the practitioner left the house I called for something to eat and enjoyed it. In ten days I was able to walk four blocks to the car line, and go to the practitioner's office for the last treatment. In two weeks from the time the doctors gave me up, I went back to my work at the hotel, and I have remained well ever since.

I am very grateful for this healing, and for knowing something about Christian Science. The day before the doctors gave me up, the thought kept coming to me of the woman mentioned in the gospels and I felt that if I could only touch the hem of Christ's garment, I, too, would be healed. This prayer surely was answered in Christian Science, and I am very thankful to God for it, and for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Lydia Gayman, Pasadena, Cal.
