I want the readers of the Sentinel to know what Christian Science has done for me and mine. My little grandchild was taken sick in November, 1909. She began to complain of her limbs, and gradually grew worse, till her parents called a physician. She continued to get worse for a week, then after having several different doctors, they were advised to take her to a hospital. This was done, and she was there six weeks, but all that kind doctors and good nurses could do proved of no avail, and the child gradually grew worse, till she became paralyzed in her lower limbs. I then brought her to my home, but the trouble increased till she became paralyzed all over. I will not go into details, but we had her at our house eight weeks in that helpless condition. There was also an eruption all over her body, her hands and feet were badly swollen, and she had kidney or bladder trouble with all the rest.

At last I went to see a Christian Scientist and asked her to help the child. I knew nothing about Christian Science, but the lady told me that nothing is impossible with God, and that He is the "great Physician." She said she was not a practitioner, but she would do what she could for the child. From the first treatment there was a gradual improvement, the bloating disappeared, as also did the rash and soreness; she began to lift her hands and arms; then was able to turn over; and how happy she was to be able to roll over on a quilt on the floor. In four weeks she was able to walk, and she is now well and happy, lives on a farm and romps all day with her brother.

Now that I have told some of the things which were done for my grandchild, I must tell what Christian Science has brought into my own life. From the time the child began to take treatment I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I had been troubled for forty years with a bad foot, had used crutches at times, and could not walk any distance without intense pain. If I attempted to walk a half mile, I was afterward laid up with that foot. I had taken medicine for years for a bowel disorder, but now it is all different. Both troubles have been overcome and I have thrown out all my medicine. I can walk and do all of my own work, and I am well. My seven boys and one girl have all experienced the healing effects of Christian Science in one form or another.
