It is over four years since I became interested in Christian Science. I had some time previous begun to doubt whether there was a just God, as I had tried to live right, but it seemed an almost impossible thing to do. Since, however, I began to get some understanding of what man is, it has opened up a new heaven and a new earth to me. Whereas I was blind, now I see! I was a miserable slave to the use of tobacco; it was my company before I ate breakfast and after meals; it was first and foremost at all times; yet I did not quit it, but the desire for the weed left me while I was reading Science and Health. I feel that we can never love and reverence too much our dear Leader, who has brought the truth again to this sin-sick world of ours. God bless her, is my humble prayer, and I thank God for His great love for His children. I am truly grateful to all who have been instrumental in bringing this truth to me and I hope to let my light so shine as to prove myself worthy to be called a child of God and a follower of the Founder of the Christian Science movement.

I write this with the hope it will be the means of helping some one who may have the same depraved appetite that I once had. It struck me very forcibly during my reading there was an idol that I needed to get rid of, but the desire for tobacco left me so quietly that I hardly knew when it disappeared. For this and other benefits I am truly thankful to God, also to Mrs. Eddy.
