FOREST STILLNESS
The
forest stillness ever speaks of God
In language clear to those with ear attuned
To nature's silent praise, her harmony.
No anthem ever sung had e'er the power
To lift the heart to God,—reveal the truth,—
As forest hymn in majesty of song
Unvoiced save as the human heart translates
The depths, the heights, in language of its own.
To each who comes with open thought to hear,
The forest gives its message, shows that peace
And joy and strength can only be attained
As man but seeks to know God's will, God's law,—
And seeking finds, and finding knows naught else
But to obey; and in obedience rests,—
His life attuned to nature's harmony.
