Three years ago our boy inadvertently upset some boiling water, scalding his legs very badly. We immediately took off his clothes and found large blisters, possibly from the steam being confined. He suffered a great deal, and the usual remedies were applied at once to alleviate the pain if possible; but day after day went by without bringing relief. We became very anxious, as we now had used all the material means that we knew about without any particular benefit being experienced. It was three weeks since the accident had occurred, and the burned places had grown worse.

One morning, having wrapped him up well and placed him in a chair, I had him taken out in the garden, as it was a pleasant sunny day. A neighbor who was passing inquired how he was getting along. I replied that he was very bad, and then told her of my trouble, how much he suffered and how we must have the doctor to burn the proud flesh that had formed. She said to me, "God can heal him if you want Him to. The boy does not need to suffer any more." She talked to me about God,—His goodness to us, His love and care for us; of the Bible, and the wonderful teaching in Science and Health, where we could learn of this great truth that heals all our diseases; that we could have this help now, if we were willing to give up all material means and rely upon God, trust our child in His care, and take Christian Science treatment. I was willing to do this, and thought my husband would be also. When my husband came in he offered no objections; but had not much hope of the child's being helped by Christian Science. I did, however, and our boy received great peace and comfort from the first; and he felt that God would heal him. The right leg was never dressed but once after this, though the other had to be dressed many times, as the burns seemed so large, extending from the thigh down nearly to the ankle; yet, thanks to Christian Science, relief came; the pain and swelling were overcome so that he was able to be about in a few days, playing at times about the house, and attending Christian Science Sunday school in less than two weeks. Shortly afterward he commenced to go to the public day school, as the burns healed rapidly, new flesh and skin grew naturally, and the legs resumed a normal appearance and size. We had feared he might be crippled by drawing up of the muscles where the burns were so deep, but thanks to God our dear boy is well and was perfectly healed through Christian Science in a very few treatments. He is learning to know God and something of this wonderful truth as taught in Science and Health, in the Sunday school where he loves to go.

Not only for the foregoing benefits am I grateful, but above all this, the child constantly thinks about God and often takes the books and asks us to explain the Scriptures and the Science to him. By this I know that he is reaching out to gain a knowledge of God, and his love for God will increase as time passes on. For this blessing that has come to him of the spiritual Life, we are more than thankful, and grateful for the help that came to us through Christian Science in our hour of need.
