The careless attitude so often shown toward the "chronics"...

Ellingwood's Therapeutist

The careless attitude so often shown toward the "chronics" is responsible for many turning to the various cults—especially to Christian Science. How often does the doctor with little or no knowledge of the case, except from the recital of the subjective symptoms, turn to his well-stocked bag and give a panacea combination lauded for all such ills? It gives no results, a few more visits, a change to another M. D., and finally a part of the Christian Science rank and file. Why not retain all these chronics? Search diligently for the underlying trouble, when found treat it thought fully and specifically, but always diagnose the mental condition.
