My daily prayer is that I may dwell more and more "in...
My daily prayer is that I may dwell more and more "in the secret place of the most High," and every hour I shall strive to realize more of the omnipotence and omnipresence of divine Love. One evening as I was reading the Sentinel, the thought came to me that I had received countless blessings from a realization of this truth, and, since this has made so many changes in our home in every way, that I should tell it to the world.
About seven years ago Christian Science was introduced into our home in order that I might have a chance to live, and I wanted to live, for I was then only sixteen years of age and had everything to live for; but until we turned wholly to God it did seem as if harmonious conditions were few and far between. To be brief, I had had an accident and operations which left me much deformed, and the attending physicians, with others consulted, said that it was impossible for me to live long. My parents knew the doctors' verdict, but could not bear to tell me. I suffered greatly for more than a year, when I commenced to realize that I could not keep it up much longer, and this was, as many of us know, a sad thought; but, thank God, Christian Science has changed it all. I am now enjoying the best of health, the diseased conditions have entirely disappeared, and I have full use of a limb which before I took Christian Science treatment caused me the greatest agony if it accidentally touched the floor; in other words, it was useless to me. Now, aside from a slight lameness, which is diminishing, all is perfect harmony.
The physical healing is indeed grand, but I thank God for the different view of everything which has come to me. Just to know that God is infinite is restful; to realize that here and now we may experience God's goodness in every way is uplifting in itself, and I cannot express in words what I feel toward Christian Science. I can, however, live and show my gratitude by striving to realize more every hour that "Love is reflected in love" (Science and Health, p. 17). In our home harmony governs where many times before evil seemed to rule. Father has been healed of many minor complaints; mother has had many minor demonstrations, in fact every one in our family has been helped not only physically, but morally. The habit of swearing occasionally when annoyed left me, as did bad temper, etc., for a more harmonious thought was and is uppermost. Every day is as it were a Sabbath, a peaceful, restful day, and I am thankful I can say that I am gradually working upward in thought toward the one Mind.
