I was asked by a friend why I became interested in Christian Science, so I gave him the following reason: I was troubled with an eruption on my hands, neck, and face, which for over twenty years appeared every spring and lasted about six weeks. I tried every remedy I heard of, besides consulting several specialists, who all told me the same thing, that the disease was incurable; that they could give me something to drive it back, but that it would come out again the next spring.
I had been moving around to different states and climates, looking for health, till over three years ago I came to California. I then happened to get work with a Christian Scientist, and he told me the first that I ever heard of this teaching. I was not a believer in any religion, but having tried everything else I thought I would give Christian Science a good fair trial. I believed that it was possible for God to heal anything if He wished to do so, and I called on a practitioner. By the third treatment the disease had entirely disappeared, and there has been no sign of it since; so that is why I am studying Christian Science.—M. Harris, Oakland, Cal.
