I send this testimony in the hope that Christian Science will help some other, as it has done so much for me. I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy on the 25th of December, 1906, and consider it the most precious Christmas gift ever received by me, for I found through its teachings that God is Love, and is ever present; something which I had never realized before.
I had been afflicted for seventeen years with gall-stones, cramps, and an abscess in the region of the liver. I was operated on twice, but after the first operation my strength did not return, and after the second no better results followed, as the wound did not heal and the abscess kept forming. My physician informed me that neither he nor any other doctor could do any more for me, and that a third operation would mean death to me. Many times since then I have thanked that doctor, as his words caused me to look elsewhere for help. In coming home one evening, my husband was told by a friend who knew of my sufferings, of the Christian Science text-book, which had helped his wife and others whom he mentioned, and he advised him to get me to read it. I immediately got a copy from our library here, and such a relief was gained after I commenced to study it! Not only was I helped physically, but I received a spiritual uplifting as well. Where life was a burden before, it is now a joy. I certainly am grateful to God, and to our dear Leader for showing the way to God who heals all our diseases.
Some time ago I had a severe attack of illness which was met and destroyed within twenty-four hours, when under medical treatment I should have been kept in bed for weeks. Christian Science has taught me that God is All-in-all, that He is Truth, Life, and Love.
