AMONG THE CHURCHES

The corner-stone of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Berkeley was formally laid at seven o'clock this morning [Dec. 26], simple services being conducted in the presence of twenty members of the church, including the board of directors, the building committee, and the two readers of the church.

The new edifice is being erected at the northeast corner of Bowditch street and Dwight way, at a cost of about $53,000. It is bungalow in style, simple in structure, and to be constructed of concrete, wood, and glass. It is expected that the church will be ready for occupancy about May 1.—Berkeley Independent.
