When Christian Science found me, in May, 1908, I was...
When Christian Science found me, in May, 1908, I was "down and out," as men say. I had suffered severely from the liquor habit for fourteen years, and the snuff habit for twenty-eight years; and had tried many times in the last eight years to get relief from medicines. I appealed to our family physician, who only laughed and said, "Don't take the first drink." Then I would pray, but instead of growing better I grew worse. My family and my friends forsook me and prophesied for me a drunkard's grave.
Upon the loss of a good position, I turned to Christian Science, and this is the result: I am now a man who does not drink or use snuff, who is respected, and who has been helped physically, financially, and spiritually. I was healed of those bad habits in one week's treatment. I firmly believe that all who desire may be helped as I was, and I pray that this testimony may benefit some one who needs such help. I am indeed grateful for what Christian Science has done and is doing every day for me and mine, and therefore I offer this expression of gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for the many blessings I have received.
Henry Schwarz, Los Angeles, Cal.
