It affords me great pleasure to tell others
It affords me great pleasure to tell others of the genuine happiness and perfect health I have gained through the knowledge of Christian Science. After suffering for years with severe and complicated stomach trouble, and weak eyes, besides being almost a cripple, I was asked one day why I did not try Christian Science. I was, however, discouraged with everything in general, so I did not at first care to give it a thought; but my second thought of Christian Science came after hearing and knowing of some very wonderful cures through its means. Then I began to reason that if one could be helped, why could not another? I had stomach trouble, with all the pain that accompanies it, and I could take only a limited quantity of food and only certain kinds. Medicines, which I took as regularly as I did food, afforded me but temporary relief.
After the first week of treatment with a Christian Science practitioner I left off my glasses, which I had always been obliged to wear whenever I read or used my eyes in any way, and a few days later my stomach was healed so that I was able to eat anything I wanted. My feet were in such a serious condition that I had no thought of their being healed when I first visited the practitioner, as I could not realize the possibility of a condition of that kind being overcome. It had been called by specialists flat foot in a very serious form, so serious that, after consulting several specialists, it was decided to put my feet into plaster casts up to my knees. After my feet had been crushed into the proper shape these casts were kept on for four weeks. They were then taken off, and plaster supports were made to fit under the arches of my feet and these were to be worn constantly.
I wore these supports three years, and my feet were then in such a condition and gave me so much pain that I little thought they could be healed, until I learned that we are governed by divine Mind and that there is no power apart from God. My feet soon began to feel stronger, and in three weeks I stepped out of the supports without telling any one in the family, put on my shoes without them, and walked wherever I wished. It has been over a year now since this wonderful demonstration of the power of Truth was experienced by me, through the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I can say with a grateful heart that I am healthier, stronger, and happier than I have been for many years.—Bessie C. Teale, Calistoga, Cal.
