I should like to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I should like to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I was led to investigate this wonderful truth through the illness of my little boy, some of the best doctors in our city saying he could live only a short time; others, that if he lived he would be afflicted for life. The child was having from five to fifteen spasms every day, and this went on for six months. I cannot tell what this little fellow suffered or what it cost me to have to sit by him and believe that nothing could be done for him. These attacks would come on without any warning, so that he received many distressing injuries. As these falls became serious, we had to have a brace made on wheels, so that he could go from room to room. Not long before I had lost a baby boy, and to see this one suffering so day by day seemed more than I could bear.
I had previously heard somewhat of Christian Science, but had no faith in it. The Sentinel lay on my table for a month before I decided to try the treatment. I was acquainted with two ladies, members of the Christian Science church, and often noticed their happy faces, and it was one of these that I called on to treat my darling boy. I saw a change the next day after the first treatment, and it was then that I searched the pages of the Sentinel with interest. My faith grew stronger each day. I got Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and would sometimes find myself reading its pages as late as midnight and several times as late as two o'clock in the morning. When I returned this book I gladly purchased a copy for myself, and now I could not do without one. My boy is well now, and loves Christian Science, as does his mother also. He is only four years old, yet he understands that this "Key" unlocked the door that was between us and the true sense of health.
To say I am grateful does not express my feeling; my heart is running over with gratitude, and I wish I could adequately express my thankfulness for Christian Science, through which my child was healed, and for having gained a better understanding of God and His Word. My little boy was under treatment only six weeks, and though it has now been over a year since the treatment began, he has had no symptoms of the old trouble. He is so perfectly well that no one would ever think he had had a day's sickness in his life. As for myself, I had a trouble of fifteen years standing, which was cured while I was reading the text-book. I can say to all those who are sick and sad of heart, to try Christian Science, for it brings the peace and rest "which passeth all understanding."
