On going into the local Christian Science rooms, my eyes...
On going into the local Christian Science rooms, my eyes rested on these words of Christ Jesus, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I desired to be free from the bondage I was in, and as a last resort I had decided to give Christian Science a trial.
The practitioner to whom I went for help advised me to procure a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read it in connection with the Bible. Following his advice, the next day (the fourth of April, 1907) I commenced to read. The deafness from which I had been suffering for nearly four years could only be temporarily relieved by the specialists, by removing the growth which seemed to be its cause, and at this time the surgeon had been unable to relieve me. I was very much discouraged, thinking that if the growth could not be removed I should become totally deaf. At first I was so prejudiced against Christian Science that I could not understand what I read; but feeling it to be my only hope, I read on, and soon the light dawned. By the latter part of June I realized that I was healed. On July 12 I took off the glasses which I had been wearing for thirteen years. A spinal trouble, which was the cause of severe pain, also has vanished. I find myself strong and able to endure more than ever in my life before. With a practitioner's aid, chapped hands and other ills have disappeared.
For these wonderful physical healings I am very thankful to God, but for the peace "which passeth all understanding," that peace which the world can neither give nor take away, words cannot express the joy I feel. My ideal is to grow in this blessed truth until I may help others to work out their problems.
