For a long time I have felt it my duty to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. While I was so set against it that I would seldom go to church with my wife, who was a strong believer in Christian Science, I was taken with a very severe attack of throat trouble. I said to my wife that I thought I should have to get the doctor to lance the swelling, as he had done on former occasions, but she thought I had best wait until the morning. My wife's sister and her husband, who were with us at this time, were both Christian Scientists and they, too, advised me to wait. I consented, and soon went to sleep. These relatives and my wife them declared the truth for me, and when I awoke the next morning I was free from the trouble and I have not had a return of it since. This was some four years ago, and it changed my thought so that I went to reading Science and Health to find out, if I could, what there was in it; and I have continued to read it ever since. I felt that nothing but the truth could have brought such spiritual uplifting and such lasting results as came to me through this experience. It was some time, perhaps a year, before I fully appreciated what it meant to me, but I have had no desire for anything except the Christian Science help since that time.

For two years my wife had wanted to unite with the church, but would not on my account, as I did not believe in Christian Science, but now we have both united with it, and Christian Science has done much for me and my family. I have had other ailments, such as rheumatism and kidney trouble, and all have been overcome through Christian Science. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
