When I came to Christian Science it was not for myself,...
When I came to Christian Science it was not for myself, but for my husband, although I now realize that I, too, was very much in need of it. It seemed as though medical skill had been exhausted, when we turned to God, and we proved this statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." We came to Christian Science through the advice of a very dear friend, who is a living witness to Truth's power. My healing has been slow, but God, Truth, has been molding me anew in His own image and likeness. Mrs. Eddy has given us "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which unlocks the door of the heart, and lets God come in and take full possession of our being. Then we can demonstrate the fact that in God "we live, and move, and have our being."
Not having much knowledge of disease, I cannot say what my ailments were, but I know this, that I am ailments,—spiritually, morally, and physically. Bodily ailments which I had since childhood have all disappeared, and I am simply a new creature in Christ. I never was prejudiced against Christian Science, as it always seemed to me that there was truth in it. I cannot find words to express my gratitude to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to all who have in any way helped me to come to a knowledge of this wonderful teaching.
Mrs. Jennie E. Welch, Manchester, N. H.
