I wish to acknowledge publicly what Christian Science...
I wish to acknowledge publicly what Christian Science has done for me About twelve years ago I was healed of a fever, and ever since I have relied on the Science for physical and mental healing. One of the most beautiful features of Christian Science to me is that it is a preventive as well as a curative agent. Space would not allow me to tell of all the benefits received. A few years ago, when I attended college, the work seemed very difficult, but by applying my knowledge of Christian Science I was able to complete the year's work. My consciousness is flooded with joy when I think how divine Love helped me in those trying hours. This truth has also been a great help to me in teaching school; it has enabled me to solve difficult problems in mathematics by knowing that man reflects the one intelligence. The school was more easily governed by knowing that man reflects God's government. One day there seemed to be quite a disturbance, but when I realized the truth it speedily ceased.
One day, while at school, my sister during play fell and struck her head so that she became unconscious. After books were taken up she began to cry and showed mental disturbance. I sent her home, and when I went home she was again unconscious. I began immediately to declare the truth that "Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter," and that "the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not" (Science and Health, P. 14, 495). I realized that it was impossible for the intelligence which governs man to be disturbed or destroyed, that man's intelligence is eternal and immortal as is divine Principle. These thoughts took up their abode with me, and in thirty minutes my sister was all right and has been ever since. She did not remember the fall. I have seen diseases of all kinds vanish before the sunlight of Truth. The peace of mind and the spiritual uplifting which Christian Science has brought to my life are more to rejoice over than physical redemption.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God; and to dear Mrs. Eddy, who was able to bring to mankind this truth.—Lela Hunt, Rose Hill, Ill.
