I wish to testify to what Christian Science has done for...
I wish to testify to what Christian Science has done for me. I had never been considered strong, and soon after my marriage my health became very poor. After the birth of my only child, I was operated upon four times, undergoing a most serious operation. I want to say right here that I am grateful to every physician who ever tried to do anything toward restoring my health, and some of them are our very best friends. For five years I suffered from stomach and female trouble, besides mental illness, while tubercular disease also developed. I never knew what a whole night's sleep was, so great was my suffering. My husband was a teacher, and our financial affairs were in such a condition, and my suffering so great, that hardly a day passed in which I did not think of ending it all. But I always clung to the hope that God would lead me to what I was looking for. I was a church-member, and lived up to its teachings as well as I possibly could. I was taught the Bible by some of the most noted theologians and Bible students of the South, but I was never satisfied until I found Christian Science.
I was healed in Christian Science in twelve weeks' treatment, and I am every day trying to realize that in God is my supply, and to know that at no distant day I shall owe no man anything, save to love him. The physical healing was wonderful, but nothing compared to the spiritual uplifting. I have not taken any medicine or used any material means since the afternoon the dear friends came and told me what Christian Science treatment since that memorable afternoon, I have seen croup, fevers, stomach trouble, partial deafness in one ear, etc., overcome for them. At Christmas, 1908, I was healed of acute throat and lung trouble in a short time. With the understanding of Truth which I have made several demonstrations, some instantaneous, others taking a longer time. I began the reading of Science and Health the afternoon I was told what Christian Science is, and the fifth day I made a demonstration for which I shall always be especially grateful. Since then I feel that I have really lived.
I could write many pages and yet find it difficult to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for the dear godly woman who brought this healing truth to all mankind. I love the Lesson-Sermons, and they are my daily bread. In this little Western town we are trying to be real Christian Scientists, and to let our "light so Shine" that others will see our good works, and so honor God and His Cause. The persecutions which follow seem very bitter at times, but we know that "evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power;" and that "God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All" (Science and Health, pp. 330, 17).
