It is six years since I first heard of Christian Science

It is six years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I was suffering with severe headaches, chronic throat trouble, and bowel disorders, for which I had consulted many physicians without getting relief. They all told me that I must give up my profession and lead a quiet life. I followed their advice, but without any good result.

Christian Science was then brought to my attention through a friend. I became a close attendant of the meetings, secured the Herold and other scientific literature, and through zealous reading and study gained sufficient understanding to mitigate my troubles. I also bought a copy of the text-book, although I did not understand a word of English. I, however, began to study earnestly, and today I am able to read and to translate that book, and also the other publications, quite well, and have gained sufficiently in understanding so that not only have my old complaints left me entirely, but I have also been enabled to help others.

Thus Christian Science has become an ever-present help to me, and I trust that this new-old faith may be understood as vital Christianity by every one, for I have proved that it can be applied not only in cases of sickness but in daily life as well. It awakens humanity from the delusion that everything is mere chance, as it shows that there exist positive spiritual laws, which work infallibly and produce effects accordingly. The farther one gets in an understanding of Christian Science, the more he sees what a debt of gratitude we owe to Mrs. Eddy, who has separated true Christianity from the rubbish of materialism. May all humanity soon profit by her teachings.
