One of our Lesson-Sermons brought so forcibly to me...
One of our Lesson-Sermons brought so forcibly to me the fact that God's individual ideas are, by loving decree of infinite, eternal wisdom, inseparably associated with their fruits, that I have since felt not only an awakened desire to manifest more of the "fruit of the Spirit," as defined by Paul, but the paramount necessity of so doing away with the "fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" as to perceive and bring forth those fruits which are the product solely of the "pure thought emanating from divine Mind" (Science and Health, p. 508).
I feel that I owe this desire wholly to the operation of Christian Science, and it is a privilege to express my deep gratitude for that which has not only kept me well for the past ten years, but which has taught me by merciful steps that "the Lord our God is one Lord," and that I can have, and need, no other good than that which comes by the revelation of divine Science from this infinite creator. The message which I hope this testimony will convey to some weary struggler with the problems of sense, is that "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob," the God of Moses and the prophets and He whom Christ Jesus glorified, is without all peradventure the God of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science; and God, Spirit, Mind, is present now as of old to lead out of the bondage of suffering sense into "the glorious liberty of the children of God." We know now, as Moses knew, that although we cannot see His face with the physical sense, nevertheless we may spiritually understand Him, and He does hide His own "in the cleft of the rock" as He passes by, and we do witness the "signs following."
Every week's Lesson gives me new cause for gratitude to our revered Leader for her patient and painstaking labor, under divine guidance, to make plain to the world by practice and precept her priceless discovery of God's spiritual laws and of their scientific operation. The study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, topically, with the aid of the Concordance, also brings added spiritual illumination, which convinces the earnest student that the text-book of Christian Science could not possibly have been brought forth by the sum total of human knowledge, but that it is inspired. When, after earnest study, one finds circumscribed methods of thought, superstitions and prejudices of long standing, melting suddenly away before some gleam of infinite meaning, and when one realizes that what is revealed by this process was selfevident to the inspired thought of our Leader years ago, the far-reaching import of her mission is partially realized. I am one of thousands who know from experience that the "angel of his presence" does go with him who reads and ponders the Scriptures, as interpreted by this book, with heart intent upon knowing God's way; that Christ, Truth, abideth with us now forever, saying, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
