Christian Science urges men to recognize their true selfhood and to live in accordance with this recognition, thus to obey the Master's command, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." The Saviour's life was spent in the exemplification and demonstration of the truth of man's being, and as men seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, they find that health, happiness, harmony are added to them. Healing in Christian Science results from the coming to man's consciousness of the truth about God and man's relation to Him, from the understanding of the spiritual law, the law of God who is Love, which annuls the physical so-called law. No amount of mental suggestion, no amount of blind belief will ever make man healthy and holy, but the realization and demonstration of man's spiritual selfhood in the image and likeness of God will accomplish this. "Ye shall know the truth," said Jesus, "and the truth shall make you free." Free from what? From what is true, from that which is of God? On the contrary, free from error, from sin, sickness, and death.
