CHRISTIAN SCIENCE IN EMERGENCIES

THERE is never a dreaded business emergency which Christian Science cannot at once rob of its worst aspect. The thought that God is ever accessible and a "very present help," quiets the commotion, and in the ensuing calm it is comparatively easy to decide what is the most important matter, and arrange the rest of the problem in line with it. The solution then becomes easy, the problem is quickly worked out, and with no fear that anything will go wrong, the incident is satisfactorily closed.

The recent experiences of two friends show very plainly the immense help which Christian Science is in the emergencies of business life. One friend was called upon to arrange, compare, and correct—with great rapidity and under considerable strain—a number of valuable papers, and by holdings firmly to the thought that God's child always does the right thing at the right time, the business was successfully terminated without one mistake. The other friend lost a package of papers containing full details of an important case, and as publicity was the one thing to be guarded against, he was quite perplexed and alarmed. At first it seemed as if the only way to recover the papers was to advertise their loss, and yet to acknowledge their value might be disastrous to the issue at stake. After realizing Mind's omnipotent care of all things, no further fear was felt, and within an hour a stranger called at the house with the package of papers, unopened, although it had been found and taken home by a member of the family of very person against whom the records were filed.

Christian Science makes one more capable and reliable. He can accomplish more, and in less time, than he could without it. To know that God's law ordains the right thing at the right time, and that in Christ, Truth, one can do what is right, is most helpful. By replacing fear, expressed at times as anxiety, with the calm assurance that God is always at the helm, Christian Science does away with hours of worried planning for emergencies that may never arise. Time formerly spent in such planning is now gained for other work, and this work is despatched more easily and quickly because fatigue is absent. Unburdened with anxiety over what has been done, and unafraid that any mischance may happen, each day finds the earnest Christian Scientist fresh for its routine and never exhausted at its close.
