Trusting that this testimony may reach and point out a better way to some expectant mother than the old Adamic curse that woman shall bring forth children in pain and sorrow, I will relate my experience in overcoming the mortal laws pertaining to childbirth. It is over five years since I first heard of Christian Science. I was not a member of any church, and did not take up the study of Christian Science for the physical healing; but I thought if a knowledge of God was good for some persons, it would be good for me too, and I have continued the study with numerous demonstrations. About a year after learning of Christian Science, I was about to become a mother, and as with my first child I had had such a dreadful experience, it was my prayer to be delivered with divine Love as my physician, and God is surely the "great Physician." We were living on a ranch, with no very close neighbors or telephones, and it was proved to me and others what divine Love could and would do, as I was left all alone on the ranch with my little two-year-old girl, my husband having been called away. In the evening I realized that baby was coming, and "perfect love" did cast out fear. The sense of pain was very slight and of short duration when the birth took place. I had never had any experience of that kind, or how to take care of a child, but divine wisdom guided me, and I washed and dressed the baby and then went back to bed again for a good night's rest. I continued with my general work the next day and felt no bad effects from it. Two other children have since been born to me, and in both instances I realized that God is ever-present.
These demonstrations, together with many others, have all been accomplished practically from the understanding I have gained through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I am indeed very thankful to God for showing me the right path, and grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy for imparting to us her knowledge of God through her writings.
Mrs. M. Veneta Bunting, Merrill, Ore.
