Often it is asked, "Can Christian Science stop the flow of blood from a cut artery, or heal a ruptured bloodvessel?" From my own experience I answer emphatically that it can. The doctor who attended me declared that the latter condition existed in my case. The loss of blood was steady, day and night, for months. I followed the doctor's directions conscientiously, as to diet, bathing, medicine, etc., but at the end of five months not a single condition had changed, except that I grew weaker and weaker, until I could not lift my head from the pillow.

At that time I heard the doctor say that if his treatment did not help me, he knew of nothing else that could; and when I saw the look of despair on my mother's face, I demanded Christian Science treatment, and had it at once. I was not cured quickly; being treated in Christian Science for two months. During all that time the loss of blood was as great as at any time throughout my illness, but yet I gained in strength steadily. The weakness left me with almost the first treatment, never to return. I grew stronger and stronger, until I could take up my duties again and be of some use in the world. Suddenly the flow of blood stopped, and stopped forever, and I was well. This experience proved for me then, and for all time, that neither weakness nor strength are contingent upon mere bodily conditions.

Like all those who are not content with the physical healing alone, but follow it up with study, application of the truth, and attendance at the church services, I have found peace and happiness, and an assurance in time of seeming distress not to be found in any other way but that pointed out by Christian Science, thus proving the prophecy of Isaiah: "And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever."—Olive Whitmore, Brooklyn, N.
