With a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to...
With a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to God I give this testimony. In March, 1907, I was apparently dying, after having been operated on for a supposedly incurable disease. I was in the hospital for twenty-three days, then I was sent home to die, the physicians said. My suffering was so intense that my husband went to the physicians to see if they could not do something to relieve me, and they said they would make another examination. This was done, and they showed my husband that two more malignant growths had come where the others had been removed. They also said that if they were to remove them, others would come, and that I could not stand another operation: all that could be done was to keep me easy with opiates until death claimed me. My family was watching over me, expecting me to die any hour. A dear friend then asked me to see a Christian Scientist who was visiting here. At first I said, "No; I have all the religion I need." I thought I had, for I had long been a church-member and my people had been praying for me. The second night it was thought I could not live until morning, and I told my friend that if I survived she could go for the Scientist.
In the morning the Scientist came. I began to improve immediately, and after I had been treated two weeks those two growths which the physicians had shown my husband, and told him they would be the cause of my death, sooner or later, passed away. After that my recovery was rapid, and today I am in perfect health. I am studying Science and Health every day and have learned to overcome many errors that cross my path. I know that I have found the fountain of Life from this new light thrown upon the Scriptures, and every day is a day of rejoicing for me. I hope this testimony will reach some who are in need of healing, and that they will throw away their prejudices and be healed, as I was.
I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this revelation, and to my dear friends who were so loving and patient with me. My sincere desire is for more light.
