It is with a grateful heart that I write this testimony of the many blessings which Christian Science has brought me. In the summer of 1907 my seven-year-old son was taken sick. I called in a doctor, and the ailment was diagnosed as a well known fever. After treating the child for two weeks, the physician said that he had done all he could, and he was sure the boy could not live more than ten hours. In despair I called for Christian Science treatment, hoping that it might save his life, and I am happy to say that it did. A kind practitioner came to treat him, and in three weeks he was able to be up. After the first few treatments the fever broke and his appetite returned. The doctor, not receiving a message that the child was dead, came to see him, and said, "Why, this is strange! The boy has a fighting chance." I said, "Doctor, could you have been mistaken in your diagnosis?" His reply was, "No. If this is not typhoid fever, then I never saw a case of it in my life." During this illness another child manifested every symptom of the fever, but treatment in Christian Science was given, and after a week this child was well.

Since this experience I have seen a severe eruption healed instantly; every particle of pain destroyed in severely burnt hands, which were healed without leaving a scar; persons raised from beds where healed without leaving a scar; persons raised from beds where they had been given up to die by materia medica. But to me the most beautiful of all is the overcoming of that dreadful enemy called fear. I have learned in Christian Science that we should not fear anything but to offend God. I trust I may never forget the debt of love and gratitude I owe to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has taught this wondrous truth to mankind.
