About the last of October, 1900, my little boy, then...
About the last of October, 1900, my little boy, then four years old, was lost. With the assistance of our neighbors we found him about half past ten in the evening, in a field about two miles away. Through fear and anxiety his mind seemed to have been affected. He grew physically and seemed strong bodily, yet he appeared to be mentally deficient for his age. We called in a physician, who declared, after the boy had been under his treatment for four weeks, that he could do no more for him, nor could any other physician cure him, and in 1903 another physician made a similar statement.
In our despair a friend from San Francisco came to visit us, and he told us of his boy, who had undergone medical operations and had received only temporary relief, but who had finally been healed through Christian Science. He advised us to try it, and we decided to do so. My wife went with the boy to a practitioner in San Francisco; he said that all things were possible with God and that the boy could be healed. The child had nine weeks' treatment and made good progress, but time and circumstances would not permit me to let my wife remain there any longer, and she therefore returned with the boy. He improved slowly during the succeeding winter and spring, yet now and then he would fall into his old dulness. Meanwhile, Christian Science had found its way to our town, and we called a practitioner, who gave the child treatment. After a short time this practitioner had to leaver the city, but we turned the boy over to another, who has finished the good work begun in him. We may now say, with grateful hearts, that the boy has been healed through the truth. He takes his books and pen of his own free will, and is making good progress in school.
Last winter my children and my nephew were taken down with a fever. Eight persons in our home were ill with this high fever, and our house was quarantined, but all were given absent treatment in Christian Science and they were all healed through the truth. God be praised, who in His infinite goodness has made known to us this truth.—M. Bundersen, Petaluma, Cal.
