About a year ago a dear friend who had been healed in...
About a year ago a dear friend who had been healed in Christian Science came to visit me. She often told me that Christian Science would heal my troubles, and her parting assurance was, "God will take care of you." A few weeks later I had a severe illness, and deafness followed. For weeks I suffered greatly, until I thought I would lose my mind. When I was about to give up all hope my friend wrote, asking me to try Christian Science, and saying she knew God could heal me. As soon as I was able to go out I went to Champaign, a distance of nine miles, in search of a practitioner. I also secured a copy of Science and Health, and began in earnest to search for the truth that was to make me free. With less than a week's treatment I could hear better, and in a month after reading Science and Health my head was well and I could hear perfectly. I had been housed up all winter, but this winter I have been able to go when and where I pleased.
About a month after I began studying Christian Science my son, fourteen years old, had three large boils start on the back of his neck. He had been subject to them before, but this time, instead of poulticing them as I had previously done, I declared the truth for him, and told him God would heal him. That was the last I heard of the trouble, and in a day or two there was no sign of the ailment. I could tell of many beautiful demonstrations in our home as the result of using the little understanding I have gained. It has overcome worry and nervousness which formerly would completely prostrate me. My husband began studying Science and Health soon after I did, and in less than three months the tobacco habit, of about fifty years' standing, was destroyed; bad stomach trouble and headaches were also completely overcome.
These are only a few of the many blessings for which we are thankful, and we know that if we are faithful over a few things God will make us rulers over many. We are very thankful that Mrs. Eddy was so faithful and self-sacrificing as to give to the world this message of Love which heals the sick and brings such peace and joy.
