My first experience with the wonderful efficacy of Christian Science was about nine years ago. I was practically an invalid, had undergone several operations, and being dependent on my own exertions for a livelihood, saw nothing to live for and was filled with despair. I had refused to take any more opiates, but was willing to try anything else recommended, so when a dear friend wrote me to "come to Portland and try Christian Science," I thought it was a rest-cure. I telegraphed her that I would be there the next day, but for the next week I was unable to get out of bed. When I did meet the practitioner, she told me to eat whatever was set before me that I liked. I was instantly healed of chronic stomach, bowel, and heart trouble of several years' standing, also of spinal trouble.

Is it strange that I should be greteful to Mrs. Eddy, the most scientific woman the world has ever known, when health, happiness, and holiness are every day becoming more real to me, all through this pure woman having given to the world the healing truth.
