Five years ago I suffered from what a doctor said was a disease in the knee-joint, but in spite of all he did there was no improvement. I was in great pain most of the time, and could attend to my household duties only with great difficulty. When I went to bed the pain increased to such a degree that I could not sleep at all during the night. I was taken to a sanitarium, where I remained five weeks, but was not healed. Then the doctor advised me to submit to an operation. He said the condition of the knee was very serious, and added that he could not promise a cure, but could give me some relief. That, however, was poor consolation. About the beginning of the year 1907 I received the address of a Christian Science practitioner from a friend. I wrote to her at once, describing my condition, and asking her whether she could help me. Her answer inspired me with confidence and courage, and I called on her the next day. After the first treatment I was able to sleep all night, and after three weeks I was able to take up my work in a silk mill, and have not lost an hour since, although I have to work all day. I learned to stand strong in the truth, and I am very thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy.
