Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall...

Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Before reading Science and Health I thought as did the Jews when they answered Jesus, "We ... were never in bondage to any man;" but now I look over the last ten years and clearly see that divine Love has freed me from legions of taskmasters, among which are fear, worry, and an obstinate clinging to an undemonstrable theology. When I found Christian Science I was a slave to glasses, having worn them eight years for defective vision. Soon after beginning to read Science and Health, reading having been a great task, I laid aside the glasses and have had no need of them since. Almost as long as I can remember I had been subject to supposedly hereditary stomach trouble. At times it seemed to be of a serious nature, but this unreal master, too, was soon dethroned. My first personal proof of the benefits of Christian Science was an instantaneous demonstration over a throat trouble which had become chronic with me, but from which I am now free. I very reluctantly gave up several theological views, among which were a material sense of baptism and communion. I held to Jesus words, "This do in remembrance of me," but I came to see that he returned to his disciples in three days and comes to each one of us as we understand, accept, and demonstrate his word. He said to his disciples later, "Lo, I am with you alway;" and Mrs. Eddy inquires in Science and Health (p. 34), "If a friend be with us, why need we memorials of that friend?"

The truth, as revealed in Christian Science, makes life mean much more to me, and is enabling me to reach a broader and truer concept of being, for which I am indeed thankful.—J. W. Bush, Greenfield, Ind.
