Many times I have sat in the Wednesday evening...

Many times I have sat in the Wednesday evening meeting with the feeling that I ought to give thanks audibly for the benefits I have received, but somehow I could not seem to do so. A few days ago I was reading the Bible, and in the 116th Psalm I saw these words: "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people." Then I knew that I could give thanks unto the Lord "in the presence of all his people," and I did at the following Wednesday evening meeting.

I became interested in Christian Science about the middle of April, 1907, through the benefits received by another person. I felt that Christian Science was grand and beautiful, and I began to study it earnestly. It filled a long-felt want, and removed a sense of fear and worry that had obtained a very strong hold on me. Just one week after I first learned of Christian Science, I was enabled to lay aside and elastic stocking which I had worn for about seven years and which I expected I must always wear. I have never missed the support for one moment, and the veins are much less prominent than they were. Just two weeks later I took off my glasses, which I had worn continually for seven years, not being able to dispense with them without having a severe headache. During the preceding month of January I had suffered a great deal with my eyes and was obliged to wear dark glasses all the time. My eyes were then treated by a noted oculist in Los Angeles, who told me they were in very bad condition and that I ought not to use them at night for a year. After having had the glasses changed several times, my eyes still troubled me; but since I took the glasses off, I use my eyes daily for reading and studying, often until late at night, and feel no bad effects.

I feel very grateful to God for all the benefits I have received, which are more than I could begin to tell; and to Mrs. Eddy, for the good work she has done and is still doing for mankind.
