At the close of our Master's long service to humanity...
Troy (N. Y.) Budget
At the close of our Master's long service to humanity, after he had taught, preached, and proven God's ability and willingness to heal the children of men from every form of sin and sickness, he meekly laid down his earthly life, condemned as a criminal. As he said, no man took his life from him, he laid it down of himself, knowing that God alone is Life and that this Life is beyond the reach of death. After his three days' work in the tomb, his body was healed, only a few scars remaining.
On Easter morning, guarded, encouraged, and helped by ministering angels, he came forth from his dark refuge into the great rapture of a sublime success. No corruption attended his death, because he knew the law of God which dooms decay. As soon as the dull disciples could comprehend the fact that the fleshly body of Jesus was swallowed up in the living reality of a risen Lord, when they gained a glimpse of the wonderful consequences to mankind of his astounding victory, they established the Christian Church, healing the sick and raising the dead. At last they began to understand the divine Principle of his teachings, and to know that man, as the child of God, is immortal, and not subject to dissolution and decay.
The culminating power and glory of our Saviour's career is seen in his success on that first Easter morn. Its practical import to the Christian world lies in the fact that his resurrection was not miraculous to Truth, but divinely natural and according to eternal law. When mankind learn this divine law and obey it, then "the greater works," which the Galilean Teacher promised, will become possible to his followers. Science explains phenomena. All of Jesus' deeds were wrought in accordance with divine law, hence their scientific character.
