THE LECTURES

Yesterday [Jan. 23] a lecture under the auspices of the local Christian Science Society was given by Francis J. Fluno, M.D., C.S.D. The subject was "Christian Science and Christian Scientists," and there was a very large attendance, every available seat being occupied and many standing. The lecturer was introduced by Hon. Mr. H. E. Pollock, who said,—

Dr. Fluno will address us upon the subject of Christian Science. It is a subject which has obtained an increasing prominence of recent years. I have been asked the question myself so frequently in the tram, by telephone, and by letter as to whether I am a Christian Scientist, that it may interest some to know that I am not. In fact I must plead a considerable amount of ignorance, as I am somewhat in the dark as to what are the precise tenets of Christian Science. I am here in the same spirit as I suppose many of you are present this afternoon,—with a view to acquiring further information.
