I think that I have been interested in Christian Science...
I think that I have been interested in Christian Science long enough to prove the efficacy and permanency of its cures. A little over two and a half years ago I was healed of the whisky habit at a Wednesday evening meeting. This was the second meeting I had ever attended. I had been addicted to this most insidious habit for about fifteen years or more, and how I longed to be free. I had prayed often in the old way to be cured—but to no avail. Each day I had woven in another thread of this awful habit, until it seemed a cable too strong for human power to break. But the joy and the peace that have come to me and mine since that healing no man can tell. It is truly "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding." I write this in the hope that it may be read by others who are under the same bondage and that they may know the good that does result from attending the Wednesday evening testimonial meetings. In February, 1906, I took treatment for the cigarette and tobacco habit generally, and was healed of it in five days. I had been using tobacco for fifteen or sixteen years prior to this treatment. For these two most beautiful demonstrations, as well as for many others in my family which are just as wonderful, I am indeed grateful to God, who has made it possible in this age, through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for us to know and demonstrate that the truth makes us free.
