One of the leading characteristics of the theology of...
The Mexican Herald
One of the leading characteristics of the theology of Christian Science is adhesion to and love of the Holy Scriptures. "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life" (Science and Health, p. 497). The critics of Christian Science would acknowledge this fact were they to read its text-book and its literature without prejudice. Without the Bible, Christian Science would fall to the ground. It could no more exist apart from the Word of God, than the science of mathematics apart from the multiplication table.
Under the egis of the American Constitution people in the United States enjoy religious freedom, each person working out his own salvation according to the dictates of his conscience. Under the sweeping protection of the splendid Federal Constitution of Mexico, the same priceless privilege is accorded. What the supreme law of the land allows, surely no one, especially a clergyman, ought to begrudge to any one else.
Jesus declared he did not come to the world to judge the world, but to save it; so no human being has divine warrant for judging another's religious belief. Christian Science can stand upon its own merits, and no good can result from attacking it or any other religion.
