One of the greatest blessings and privileges in my life...

One of the greatest blessings and privileges in my life was the opportunity afforded me of working for the building fund of The Mother Church. At first I did not understand why the branch churches should contribute to this fund, and I referred the matter to my practitioner. She was wholly loyal to The Mother Church, and the explanation she gave me of it, and of its relationship to the branch churches, was a burst of light that illumined my though and dispersed the darkness in which I had been groping. With this illumination I gained a truer concept of Mrs. Eddy's life and work; of the work of the Directors, and of every auxiliary of the Church. I owe a great deal to the illumination which came to me at that time, and I have never lost a deep sense of gratitude for the love it awakened in my heart. I became healthier and stronger than I had ever been in my life. I was healed of neuralgic trouble which had been disturbing me for months previous, and I have never had a return of it. A bad habit of sleeping late in the morning was also broken up. It had always caused me great irritation to wake early, and I had never done so unless under compulsion, but the joy of working for our Cause was so great that I voluntarily made the demonstration of early rising in order that I might have more time. I gained a reliance on God and an independence of character which I had never known before. Two vacations were entirely devoted to this work, and the gladness of heart I felt made them the happiest of holidays. One other result which I value exceedingly is that I learned how to become a more faithful member of our branch church here.

I love the Cause of Christian Science, and its text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," for it has brought me gladness. Soon after first hearing of Christian Science, a verse from the fourth chapter of Acts came into my thought: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Its meaning became clear, and I realized that the truth contained in Science and Health was the same truth as that preached by Peter.

To Mrs. Eddy, whose life-work has made possible the manifestation of Truth in my life, I feel the deepest gratitude. Through Christian Science I have passed from darkness to light, and I do indeed thank God for it, and for its Discoverer and Founder.
