When my attention was first directed to Christian Science,...
When my attention was first directed to Christian Science, I was very skeptical as to the Science part of it. I doubted as to the healing being the result of the application of a scientific Principle. It seemed to me that it must be either the work of chance or of some mysterious mental influence, but after suffering for months from constant headaches, which the physicians said were of a serious nature, and receiving no encouragement that I should ever be any better. I turned, as a last resort, to Christian Science for help. The practitioner to whom I applied for treatment often referred to God as divine Principle. This view of God was to me new and wonderful, and there began to unfold to my consciousness the reality of a perfect, eternal, changeless Being, who is called God. After the first few treatments life began to take on a brighter and a happier outlook; the pain and suffering which I had endured for months gradually diminished, and health and strength began to take their place. These treatments were continued for a few weeks, at the end of which time the headaches disappeared and have never since returned.
Since I was healed I have proved many times that Christian Science healing is not the work of chance, neither is it the result of anything occult, but that it is the effect of understanding an infinite divine Principle, "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
