I feel as if the time had come when I should give something...
I feel as if the time had come when I should give something in return for the good I have received in Christian Science. I was a great sufferer from a very serious form of bone disease. When I was fourteen years of age I was taken very sick and lame. I lay in bed for two months; was able to get up only as I was lifted from the bed to a couch and back again. In three months I began to sit up and to take a few steps on crutches, gaining slowly. After four years of suffering I had a large piece of bone removed. From that time on there was improvement. I walked with crutches nine years, after which I used a crutch and cane. Later I could walk alone, and for several years I considered myself well, but at a later period I was attacked with the same disease in the left knee joint and down nearly to my ankle. I was in bed again, and on crutches for nine years more. The doctors gave me up, and advised me not to go to the hospital, but to bear the suffering as best I could. At this time Christian Science came to my notice. A friend had been in Boston, and had heard of so much good resulting from Christian Science that I thought it might benefit me. Health was what I was looking for. Although I knew nothing whatever of Science, I decided to try it, and I found relief immediately. I am free from the need of crutches and go where I please without assistance. I am very thankful to our dear Leader. Christian Science has been such a blessing to me. I thank God that Mrs. Eddy was enabled to make the truth so plain to us that even little children are able to demonstrate this Science successfully. I thank God for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science.
