THE LECTURES

In the face of conditions most unfavorable to outgoing, a very representative audience of Concord's people assembled at First Church of Christ, Scientist, this city, last evening [Oct. 27], to listen to the lecture by Mrs. Sue Harper Mims of Atlanta, Georgia, a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church. Mrs. Mims was introduced by Colonel Solon A. Carter, who for thirty years has been State Treasurer of New Hampshire.

Mrs. Mims spoke for a little over an hour, and from the opening to the close had not only the careful but seemingly rapt attention of every one present. She was in splendid voice and was in full command of herself and her subject all the time. Those who had the pleasure of hearing the lecture said that it was not only highly instructive but really inspiring.

Professor Hering, the First Reader of the church, presided. He welcomed the audience, and presented Colonel Carter, who, in introducing the lecturer, said in part,—
